1. The product is featured with 14-Bit rotary position sensor digital angle (interface) and pulse width modulation output.
2. as5048a is a 14-bit rotary position sensor (formerly called encoder) for absolute angle measurement and PWM (= pulse width modulation) at 360 degree based on non-contact magnetic sensor technology full-rotation output
3. The device is suitable for shaft applications where a simple two-pole magnet rotates the sensor IC above or below and the 0 position can be programmed into the device with simple commands. The absolute magnetic angular position resolution is 14 bits = 16384 for position measurement, and each revolution is a serial interface (SPI) with digital values.
4. AS5048 provides PWM output and or I2C interface to provide absolute angle measurement for the microcontroller. In the mechanical designing, there is no need to consider the exact pairing of the initial 0 position of the chip and the magnetic poles of the magnets it uses. Instead, the solution is: the 0 position can be programmed into the assembly through simple or I2C commands (no special programming equipment). Memory inside AS5048.
5. AS5048 also has a very high operating tolerance, including the deviation of the center position between the chip and the paired magnet, the deviation of the air gap between the chip and the paired magnet, and the temperature change between -40C and +150C.
6. The AS5048 magnetic rotary encoder can provide more accurate measurement than the previous Austrian microelectronics magnetic rotary encoder products. Its 14-bit measurement analog front end provides measurement resolution as low as 0.0219 degrees. Through the linearization and averaging processing of the microcontroller, the angle measurement can be accurate to 0.05 degrees.
