The Knot is visually one of the most significant parts of a tie's impact, and in our opinion the most attractive is the slim, elegant , half Windsor.......... Another important point is all our patterns are based on a classic 1930's shape ,  designed to avoid the untidy sight of the tail of the tie dangling below the blade.

Regardless of the kind of silk used in the outer shell , the quality of the fall and handle of a tie is directly a reflection of how good the interlining is..........additionally cutting the silk fabric carefully on the bias is an important skill, and results in the tie maintaining shape.

The blade of a tie is backed by tipping , again the quality of which is very important in helping maintain its shape - particularly relevant on luxury silks like crepe de chine .

Ideally a tie should be sponge cleaned - avoiding differential shrinkage of outer shell and lining - and only dry cleaned in the case of serious mishaps. Protect with a fine cloth when pressing.

Finally, although many people like to hang their ties in storage, a better and simpler way is to roll them flattish and put them in a drawer, avoiding direct sunlight.
