The original history of the "Snow Baby" dates back to the late 1800's. The original series called "Snow Baby" was manufactured in Germany in the 1890's. In the 1920's Japanese manufacturers began to produce Snow Baby replicas. Department 56 released their first "Snowbabies" bisque figurines in 1986 with production being in Taiwan. Thru the years they continue to maintain their ratings for collectibles. These figurines are made of a porcelain bisque with each telling their 'story'.
